Waterloo crew night out · Fri July 31
O.A.R. Three Decades Tour with Gavin DeGraw and Lisa Loeb — July 31, Firefly Distillery, North Charleston
Live at Firefly · 5-acre lawn under the stars · rain or shine
🚪 Doors 5:30 🎵 Music ~6:00 🌅 Done ~10 📍 Directions ›
🕑 The night, hour by hour
4:15–5:00 · Pre-party (optional)
Holy City Brewing (1021 Aragon Ave) is the official pre-party spot — it's a short walk to the gates. Meet the crew here, first round, walk over together.
5:15 · Line up
Be at the front gate on Spruill Ave (next to Charleston Glass) a little before doors. All bags get searched — clear bags keep the line fast.
5:30 · Doors — claim the spot
Spot-claimers head straight to the lawn with the blankets while the rest grab first drinks. (Strategy below ⬇️)
~6:00 · Music starts
Openers first — expect Lisa Loeb then Gavin DeGraw through the early evening.
~8:15 · O.A.R.
Headline set under the stars. "That Was a Crazy Game of Poker" will absolutely close it.
10:00 · Lights up
Everyone leaves at once — have the ride plan set before the last song (see Rides).
⚠️ No re-entry. Once you're in, you're in — nobody can run back to the car. Bring everything you need through the gate the first time.

🎒 What to bring
Clear bag — plastic/vinyl, max 12″×6″×12″. MUST Or a small clutch/fanny pack (4.5″×6.5″, one pocket, doesn't need to be clear).
Foldable blankets / sheets / towels — allowed, and they're how we claim the group spot. Bring 2–3 big ones.
EMPTY reusable plastic water bottle (one per person) — free hydration station inside refills all night. No glass, no metal, no metal flasks.
Stadium / Crazy Creek chairs — only the frameless kind (zero metal, wood, or plastic structure). They also sell them inside at Guest Services.
Sunscreen + bug spray — non-aerosol, 3.4 oz or less. July evening on grass = bring the bug spray.
Cards / phone pay + ID — the venue is 100% cashless (a little cash only for food-truck backup & tips). ID required for every drink.
Cheap ponchos — it's rain-or-shine and umbrellas are banned. A $2 poncho is the insurance.
Comfy closed-toe shoes — 5 acres of grass field; mud if it rained. Not the night for nice sandals.
🚫 Leave at home
🚫
Regular folding/camp chairs — anything with a metal, wood, or plastic frame is turned away at the gate.
🚫
Coolers, outside food & drinks — nothing in, and no tailgating in the lot.
🚫
Umbrellas, tents, canopies — no shade structures of any kind.
🚫
Backpacks & multi-pocket bags — only the clear-bag sizes above get in.
🚫
Glass or metal bottles, flasks — plastic only.
🚫
Wagons, carts, drones, selfie sticks, pro cameras — and (really) bubble wands & hula hoops.
🗺️ Claiming the group spot
The play: it's one big 5-acre grass field, first-come, zero seating anywhere. Send two spot-claimers straight in at 5:30 with the blankets while everyone else hits the bar line — by 5:45 we have real estate AND drinks.
Where to drop the blankets
Middle of the field, slightly toward the back half — you keep sightlines, you're near the food trucks (back of field) and bathrooms, and there's room for 3 families' worth of people to sit without getting squeezed. The front third fills with standers once O.A.R. goes on.
Blanket math for ~6 adults
Two queen-size blankets side-by-side comfortably holds the group + the clear bags. A third blanket = buffer room. Overlap the corners so nobody "trims" your spot while you're at the bar.
Keep it legal
Blankets are lawn-only — not allowed in the PIT or Firefly Club areas. And claim what you'll use; oversized land-grabs get side-eye from staff and neighbors.
🍴 Food & drinks inside
Food trucks · back of the field
Multiple trucks every show — the exact lineup is posted on Firefly's Instagram show week. Trucks set their own payment (most take cards; some take cash).
Field bars
Firefly cocktails, beer, hard seltzers, mocktails & soft drinks.
Bend & Steal Airstream
The whiskey-cocktail trailer — worth the walk.
Modelo beer tents
Fastest beer lines on the field.
Hydration station FREE
Free water refills all night — bring those empty bottles!
Good to know: 2-drink limit per person per trip · everything is card/phone pay · ID checked every time. Pace it out — it's a 4.5-hour night in July heat, so alternate with the free water.
🚗 Getting there & home safe
The one rule: everyone's drinking → nobody in our group drives home. Firefly itself "highly encourages" rideshare — and their lot is only 400 spaces with a gate that locks overnight (leave a car and it's stuck until the next business day).
RECOMMENDED
Uber XL / Lyft XL — one per family, both ways
Roughly $20–35 each way from our side of town (surge hits at 10pm). Dedicated drop-off & pick-up zone right at the Spruill Ave entrance. Exit hack: when the show ends, walk 5 min back to Holy City Brewing and set the pickup pin THERE — you skip the 400-car crush and wait with a nightcap instead of a curb.
Option B · One designated driver + big vehicle
One hero per crew takes the minivan/SUV, parks on-site (arrive by ~5:00 — only 400 first-come spots). Free, but that person sits in the exit line — expect 20–30 min to get out.
Option C · Get dropped off
A friend/teen driver drops the group at the gate and picks up after. Same exit-crush note applies — set pickup at Holy City Brewing or a few blocks up Spruill.
💬 Crew decision
Drop a vote in the group text: A = rideshare · B = DD carpool · C = drop-off. Whatever wins, lock drivers/pickup plans by Thursday night so the 31st is zero-thinking.
